Axera Wins “Innovative AI Product of the Year” for Chips Enabling Large Language Model Deployment at the Terminal
Recently, the 8th Artificial Intelligence Conference 2024, jointly organized by elecfans.com and elexcon2024 (Shenzhen International Electronics Exhibition), was held. The conference recognized upstream component suppliers who demonstrated excellence in the industry and announced the winners of the “2024 Excellence Market Performance Award.” Axera received the “Innovative AI Product of the Year” for its achievements in AI chip portfolio, solutions, and AI models, once again demonstrating its leading capabilities in technological innovation and customer services.
The electronics industry is now facing unprecedented challenges. While geopolitical complexities and fierce market competition have intensified industry pressures, emerging technologies continue to create new opportunities. In this climate of both challenges and opportunities, industry players, from upstream to downstream, remain committed to innovation—a testament to the resilience of China’s semiconductor sector.
As a leader in China’s AI chip sector, Axera has deeply engaged in terminal-side applications. With AI chips natively supporting Transformer network architectures, the company comprehensively enables terminal deployment of large AI models. At the conference, Qi Tang, Axera’s Director for AI Inference Engines, delivered a keynote presentation. Tang noted that large models are shifting from cloud to terminal deployment, with terminal AI models offering advantages in privacy protection, offline deployment convenience, and customization capabilities. This has led to a flourishing of multimodal large models. However, terminal AI models still face challenges such as limited options, high costs, and high power consumption, while lacking a complete application ecosystem. To address these issues, Axera has launched several solutions, including mass-produced NPUs and user-friendly software stacks.
Tang revealed that Axera has initiated the development of its latest Neutron V6p NPU this year. This AI chip is expected to achieve 128 TOPS computing power at 8-bit precision and can adapt to various large models, enabling AI functions such as text-to-image search, one-click removal, target acquisition, and monocular depth estimation. Additionally, the company has launched the new AXera-Pi 2 development board based on AX630C, making it easier for community developers to deploy large models at the terminal.
Today, AI has shown enormous application potential, with multifunctional and multimodal large models transforming production and lifestyle while placing unprecedented demands on computing power. Guided by its mission of “AI for All, AI for a Better World”, Axera continues to unlock the AI potential of its chips, bringing AI to various industries and advancing society’s transformation to an intelligent era.
