Axera Honored with “Local Footprint Award” at 2024 Aptiv Supplier Day
The 2024 Aptiv Supplier Day was successfully concluded in Shanghai recently. At the event, Axera, a homegrown automotive SoC technology innovator and key supply chain partner of Aptiv, was honored with the “Local Footprint Award” in recognition of its advanced technological achievements and outstanding mass production performance. The company shared this prestigious recognition alongside several industry peers.

During the summit, Dr. Xiaoxin Qiu, Founder and Chairperson of Axera, participated in a roundtable forum where she shared insights on innovation and breakthrough strategies in the automotive SoC sector.
Dr. Qiu highlighted the rapid development of China’s semiconductor industry in recent years. As a young enterprise established just five years ago, Axera has pursued excellence and customer success through its “AIoT + ADAS” dual-pillar strategic layout, with smart driving and smart city serving as two major application scenarios driving its growth. “Our rich experience in smart IoT technology innovation and mass production, coupled with our robust ecosystem, has provided a solid foundation for entering the smart driving sector. This has enabled Axera’s automotive chips to achieve remarkable results and gain customer recognition quickly,” she noted.
She emphasized two distinct advantages of domestic chip companies like Axera: closer customer proximity and easier application implementation. “Customer success is our core corporate culture. The closer we are to customers, the faster we can respond, leading to more positive interactions and greater mutual growth opportunities. Companies like Axera, focusing on edge and terminal computing chips, can thrive in this fertile application environment, creating innovative products with better cost efficiency that meet actual customer needs.”
“As the saying goes, ‘speed is the key to success,’” Dr. Qiu explained. The industry’s rapid development has fostered a practical approach among domestic enterprises, characterized by quick iterations and cost-efficiency. “This explains why Axera, despite being a later entrant in the automotive SoC sector, has progressed so rapidly.”
The “Local Footprint Award” received by Axera reflects Aptiv’s recognition of the company’s innovative technological capabilities and mass production achievements, establishing a strong foundation for expanded future collaboration. Both companies will continue to explore new opportunities in the growing automotive and mobility markets.
Axera, established in May 2019, is committed to creating world-leading perception and edge computing chip platforms, which serve vast edge and terminal device markets across smart city, smart driving, edge computing, and robotics. In November 2023, Axera officially launched its automotive chip brand “XMOTIVE”, positioned as a Tier 2 supplier with successful mass production deployment. Axera has developed two core technologies—AXProton AI-ISP and AXNeutron mixed precision NPU—that offer comprehensive smart driving reference solutions for a variety of automotive applications, including front-view integrated cameras, integrated driving and parking domain controllers, CMS (Camera Monitor Systems), and DMS/OMS (Driver and Occupant Monitoring Systems). Additionally, Axera provides efficient, user-friendly toolchains and robust software development platforms, enabling them to meet a wide range of customer needs.
